I viewed The O'Reilly Factor and Countdown with Keith Olbermann and there were quite a few key differences. One was the fact that Olbermann is so completely biased that I almost did not want to keep watching. At the beginning of O'Reilly, I was not sure I was going to like the show because he kept interrupting the people he was speaking with and it was frustrating me. As the show went on however, I caught on to his humor and realized that his points made a lot of sense. I liked the fact that he did try to get the truth out about both candidates and that he did being up bad points about each. While he may favor one over the other, he did not make it seem overly apparent as Keith Olbermann did.
It is clear that MSNBC is democratic and liberal and everything that Olbermann talked about related to how McCain did something wrong or stupid and I feel that one should only watch this program if they are a democrat because it gave absolutely no justice to John McCain at all. Fox News, on the other hand, is more conservative republican. O'Reilly, however, did try to give justice to facts about both candidates and I think this is much more fair. He had certain segments, for example, when he spoke about ACORN and the problems with that in Obama's campaign, but he also had a segment on a supposed racist remark that McCain made at the second presidential debate. Olbermann on the other hand, was completely anti-McCain and it is hard to watch his show if you do not agree with his viewpoint because this is what the whole show is about.
It is obvious that for their own party reasons and personal beliefs or those of the news station, that O'Reilly and Olbermann choose to use and to not even mention certain topics. This definitely must be taken into consideration when deciding which presidential candidate to support because you need to hear unbiased views in order to make your own decision. I found this was easiest through watching The O'Reilly Factor.

I've watched several episodes of Bill O'reilly before, but I've never heard of Kieth Olberman until this assignment. Since I couldn't catch any episodes of his show, I just watched a few on youtube.
I gotta say, they're both pretty biased. I think their only difference is their emotional range.
Kieth is WAY dramatic and teary-eyed sometimes when he talks and spreads a lot of propaganda.
Bill O'reilly tends to make a few good points here and there, but he also tends to cut off the interviewee's mike when he doesn't agree with what they're talking about. Also, he gets angry way too fast in some episodes and gets really intimidating from what I've heard. Celebrities such as Al Franken call for Fox to remove his show all together because of his unothadoxed conduct, although I believe he's calmed down since 2008.
Biased media and shows upset me knowing that all they have to say is their side. The bottom line is though, that it's their show...and they can cry if they want to. Regardless of whether or not they get the praise or the extreme bouts of disagreement, the fact is simply this: their show gets ratings and attention. Also who really knows that this is what the hosts really think. If each network tends to sway into a certain direction, then the shows that are of the network might not even have a choice. People never know what goes on behind the scenes. The producers or the chiefs of the network could threaten to cancel the show, terminating their careers. People run these shows to entertain, make something out of nothing, and give people something to talk about. Honestly, I can't wait for the campaigning to be over 'cause this whole mcCain vs. Obama thing is gettin' really old. Now all they're really doing is see who can dig up the most dirt on who. that's all there really is at this point, which is sad, but true.
Both Fox and MSNBC have their own agenda's. As you said in your blog MSNBC is a very liberal network whereas Fox is conservative.
Olberman is a person who gets my blood boiling. He is so over dramatic it's rediculious and at some points sad and annoying. I understand that you are liberal and that's wonderful but at least try to be objective. The claims that Olberman made against McCain were exaggerated.
Bill O'Reilly did not bother me as much as Olberman but he did bother me. The fact that he does not allow people to finish speaking, so that they can defend their point of view is annoying. Why would you be the host of a news talk show if you cannot allow other people to speak? I really don't understand the bias in the media why can't these reporters just report the news objectivly? Why must they always throw their two cents in. Well I guess when it is your own show you can do whatever you want to do even if it is making false accusations against a presidential candidate or not allowing people to speak their mind.
I beleive that the very point of these shows is to be bias. The shows are the stars oppionion and nothing more. Yes they suport then with real life facts, but when it is boiled down we are not viewing PBS. These networks have an adgenda.
It is true that both hosts bring up valid points and are intelegent thinkers. Neither of them voices an opinion without knowing all of the facts and this is comendable. I do however wish that they would at least acknowledge the other side of the story, but then again that would not make them the shows they are. It would change the very heart of the show.
Both O’Reilly and Olbermann are bias, but I think that’s the point of their shows. They are trying to appeal to a specific demographic. What it comes down to is ratings. Olbermann is trying to get liberals that are far left, and O’Reilly is trying to get conservative viewers.
I don’t think a one sided show is that bad. Sometimes when newscasters are being fair to both sides it’s so boring. They sound like they don’t really care about the subject and they’re just reading lines…boring. At least these 2 bring a little personality and opinion into it. You can tell that they actually believe in what they are saying. I’m not saying I like these guys, and there is always the option to change the channel if you don’t like what you see.
